He stopped on the way to share a moment with his two sons, who held basketballs while patiently waiting to take some shots. James hu...

    Mirrorless for Concert photography
Hi, Generally this came up on another forum (Nikon). I was wondering if any of you are using your mirrorless cams to shoot concerts. Do you have focusing problems in low light? Is anyone by chance using the Sony A7s in low light and do they have focus issues with that using the f4 zooms. Just curious. I don't shoot concerts much but I know in regular to relatively low light (not co...

Dell Optiplex 9020 with horrible audio issues
Hello, So I got a new workstation for the office. Yay! A nice new machine for Christmas (sort of). I installed Windows 8.1 (clean install from Microsoft ISO) on this new Optiplex 9020 and installed all the updates from Microsoft and then installed all the updates from Dell (using my dell and the support web page). Part of that is installing the Dell Realtek HD audio driver package. After ins...

Random album art not showing on Apple TV
Hello, I use my Apple TV a lot for listening to music, and there's a number of albums that just will not display album art, but only on the Apple TV itself. Within iTunes and on my iPods they display fine. I've tried deleting and re-adding the artwork to no avail. The only pattern I can see is that all the albums that aren't working are in MP3 format, not AAC. Any thoughts? ...

Pulling album art out of mp3 files (to folder.jpg for example) in batch mode?
Hello, Back to a little summer cleanup of the music collection. My OCD is making me get all the artwork cleaned up. Every album should have a folder.jpg at a minimum, and that artwork should be embedded in the mp3tag of each song in the folder. I've been using AlbumArtDownloaderXUI the past day or so which is a fantastic way to get art. The thing is, it scans the folders for missing art,...

    CM magazine subscriber
Hello, I'm a CM magazine subscriber (so get it delivered before it is in the shops) and have had issue 246 for a couple of weeks. When I try to get the download content off of the net the "Vault" is still showing August's (245) issue as the latest one. Has anyone else around here noticed this and is there a know reason for the tardiness? It's pissing me off as I've se...

    Music Artwork issues and standards
Hello, I have noted other posts reporting various problems with artwork over time.I have experienced Artwork issues generally when using UPnP/DLNA as some renderers work OK and others do not. Sometimes using a different server resolves the one not working but the original that worked previously does not with the alternate server. This appears to be due to the various implementations and the a...

Artwork issue since the great beta change
Hello, I deleted all mediamonkey folders and all my music collection on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and reinstalled MMA.Now MMA syncs all music again, but it creates hundrets of subfolders for the artworks. The folders are named with two-digit hex numbers. This behaviour is new to me and very annoying. The stock picture viewer on my phone now needs ages for starting as it lists all the folders. In t...

What is a good trade that goes with music?
Hello, Well I was originally going to go to audio engineering school in Vancouver (Nimbus), but then I thought maybe it's wisest to do a trade so I could pay for it. But maybe not? I was thinking electrical , but then I was thinking how many times will I run into a situation where I will have to use these skills? Then I thought what kinds of situations would I run into that a trade in ge...

    Beware a trading glitch?
Hello, I think that what I just experienced was most likely do to somebody trying to program their own trading client/bot and it ended up working out to my benefit. Still, I'm a market maker/trader and I know how disastrous this type of thing could potentially be. Hopefully if this is the case, y'all can figure out what happened because it certainly needs to be patched up.As you'...

Tour of CMU's TFAN nanolithography lab
Hello, If you've ever been interested in seeing what a real science lab looks like, now is your chance, I'll be giving a tour of my lab at CMU where we are developing a technique to write nanoscale features on a substrate. The lab is pretty small, so I think I'll only be able to take 6 people at a time. I will do two 30 minute sessions (12 people total): one at 1:00 pm and the se...
