The Secret Longboard of Walter Mitty

MatthewGlenHill

If you haven't had a chance to see The Secret Life of Walter MItty that came out this last Christmas you've missed a pretty sweet longboading scene set in Iceland. In the scene, Walter Mitty bombs a hill in Iceland trying to catch up to a famous photographer, Sean O'Connell, who just might know where the cover shot for the last issue of Time magazine is located. How does this all tie in to Social Skateboarding? Available here at Social you can get a few of the boards used in the film. Featured more than any of the other boards in the film was  a Bustin Boombox with a custom graphic on Bustin Swift Freeride wheels and Black/Raw Paris V2 Trucks. You can see him holding the the Boombox there to the left. In a few scenes going down that that same hill (specifically during the toeside shutdown and maybe more) one may notice that he was in fact riding a different board, That board, the second one seen in the movie is actually the Arbor Prodigy. The rest of the setup on the Prodigy is unknown. Lastly, at the end of the movie, Rich, Cheryl's son, is seen riding a Bustin Maestro Pro in a skate park. Like the Prodigy there are no scenese that I could catch the rest of the set up being used.

After reading a bit of background about the movie and the longboarding scenes even though ben stiller did not know how to longboard and even more specifically bomb hills he had to learn for the movie and after a short time learned how to get up to over 35 miles an hour. I will post the trailer below but you will see at 5:20 that's really Ben still riding the Prodigy in the scene shown.

Fortunately for you and me we can get Walter MItty's longboard here on Social Skateboarding, just check it out!

If you want to check out a little bit more about the movie, I would definately say it is worth seeing but here's the trailer for your enjoyment (longboarding is at 5:20) and until next time Skate Connected and Skate like Ben Stiller aka Walter MItty!
